The Tribute Communities Centre liquor licence issue has caused a disruption for guests attending events at the venue in Oshawa. Due to an administrative error, the venue’s liquor licence expired on February 2, affecting alcohol service over the weekend of February 8.
Oak View Group (OVG), which is responsible for obtaining and maintaining the liquor licence on behalf of the City of Oshawa, notified Oshawa Generals season ticket holders and the public that alcohol would not be served during events. Guests reported that they could not purchase alcohol at events held on Friday and Saturday.
In a statement released on Sunday, February 8, the City of Oshawa confirmed that the issue was due to the expired licence, but assured the public that regular alcohol service would resume for the next event scheduled for Friday, February 13, which is the Oshawa Generals hockey game.
OVG is working to resolve the situation, and alcohol service will be available as usual after this issue is addressed.
