After months of construction, one of Oshawa’s most anticipated community projects is entering its final stages.
The transformation of Rotary Park, located near Centre Street South and Gibb Street, is nearly complete, with the City of Oshawa confirming the revitalized park is expected to open this summer. The redevelopment was chosen as the City’s Centennial Legacy Project and represents one of the largest investments in a public recreation space in recent years.
The new Rotary Park has been designed as a destination for families, replacing the aging facilities with modern amenities that will serve residents for years to come.
When the gates officially open, visitors can expect:
- A brand-new four-lane outdoor pool
- A zero-entry leisure pool
- A dedicated toddler pool
- A destination playground
- A splash pad
- New pathways and improved green spaces
- Updated site amenities and park infrastructure
One of the biggest announcements surrounding the reopening is that Oshawa residents will be able to enjoy free swimming opportunities during the pool’s first summer season.
To take advantage of the program, residents will need to register for a free Rotary Pool Season Pass. The pass provides access to scheduled leisure swims and allows registration for swimming lessons, subject to availability and capacity. Proof of Oshawa residency is required when registering.
For many residents, Rotary Park has long been a summer tradition. Generations of families learned to swim, cooled off during hot afternoons and spent time together in one of Oshawa’s best-known neighbourhood parks. The redevelopment aims to preserve that community connection while bringing the facilities up to modern standards.
With the playground, splash pad and pool all located together, the revitalized park is expected to become one of Oshawa’s premier outdoor recreation destinations, offering activities for children, families and visitors of all ages.
While an official opening date has not yet been announced, the City says construction is nearing completion and residents can expect the park to welcome visitors later this summer. Registration for the free Rotary Pool Season Pass is already available through the City of Oshawa.
As the finishing touches are completed, Rotary Park is preparing to begin its next chapter—continuing a community tradition while offering a modern space designed for the next generation of Oshawa families.
