Whitby property taxes for the second instalment of the town’s 2026 final billing must be received by Tuesday, September 29.
The deadline applies to every property in Whitby. Final tax bills were mailed to property owners in May, and the town is asking anyone responsible for payment who did not receive a bill to contact Service Whitby.
Allow time for Whitby tax payments
Online and telephone-banking payments can take three to five business days to reach the town. Whitby says it is the property owner’s responsibility to use the correct roll number and ensure payment arrives by the deadline.
Payments received after September 29 are subject to a 1.25 per cent penalty on the first day of default and again on the first day of each following calendar month while the amount remains unpaid.
Residents can pay through a pre-authorized plan, online or telephone banking, a participating financial institution, by mail, or in person at Whitby Town Hall. Cash, cheque and debit are accepted in person. The after-hours mail slot at Town Hall may also be used for cheques, but cash should not be left there.
All payments must be in Canadian funds and drawn from a Canadian financial institution.
Town Hall hours extended before deadline
Whitby Town Hall will remain open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, September 28, and Tuesday, September 29. The building will close on Wednesday, September 30, for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The September deadline is now set for the last business day of the month. Whitby says the timing gives taxpayers more flexibility and provides additional processing time for bank and mailed payments.
