The Uxbridge Bruins begin their 50th season this week with road and home games on consecutive nights, opening another Provincial Junior Hockey League campaign after a championship year.
Uxbridge travels to Bowmanville on Thursday, September 10 to face the Clarington Eagles at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex. The Eagles list the opening faceoff for 7:25 p.m.
The Bruins then return to Uxbridge for their home opener Friday against the Scarborough Knights. Supporters should check the club’s official schedule for the final start time and any game-day updates.
Club marks five decades on the ice
The 2026–27 campaign represents 50 years of Uxbridge Bruins hockey. The club plans to recognize the milestone by restoring an earlier, less aggressive version of its bear logo and adding a commemorative patch to players’ uniforms.
The team’s annual golf tournament is also scheduled for Saturday. Club president Erin Arsenault has indicated that more anniversary activities will be announced during the season, according to the Uxbridge Cosmos.
The anniversary arrives after a successful 2025–26 campaign in which Uxbridge captured its division championship and won the divisional playoffs. Clarington’s season ended against the Bruins in the Orr Division final, adding extra context to Thursday’s opening-night rematch.
Coaching group returns
Uxbridge is bringing back its full coaching staff. Head coach Dan West returns alongside assistant coaches Jon Campbell and Andrew Swan.
Trainer Payton Dowson and equipment manager Spencer Mazakian are also returning. Long-serving team staff member Corey Stemp remains with the organization as it begins the milestone season.
The addition of Scarborough to the home-opening matchup is one of the changes local supporters will be watching as the PJHL schedule takes shape. The Cosmos reported that the league had not yet published a complete schedule two days before the opener.
For the latest confirmed game listings, tickets and anniversary announcements, supporters should use the Bruins’ official website. The first verified matchup is Thursday at 7:25 p.m. in Bowmanville, followed by Friday’s home opener in Uxbridge.
