A missing girl in Whitby found safe update has ended the public search for a six-year-old reported missing over the weekend.
Durham Radio News reported Tuesday that Durham Regional Police confirmed the child had been found. The outlet updated the report that first carried the missing-person appeal.
Search began after Saturday sighting
The girl had last been seen Saturday night near Dundas Street East and Thickson Road in Whitby. Police said she had been at a McDonald’s with her father before being left with one of his friends.
Investigators said the child was later seen with that man in Peel Region on Sunday. Her grandfather reported her missing, according to the updated report.
The earlier appeal drew coverage from several GTA news organizations after police asked the public for help locating her.
Police confirm child has been found
The updated report did not provide details about where or when the girl was located. It also did not announce charges or identify anyone involved.
Because the child has been found, readers should no longer circulate the earlier missing-person appeal. This missing girl in Whitby found safe report is a substantial follow-up to All About Durham’s original coverage of the search.
All About Durham has also added an update to the original article so readers reaching the earlier appeal can see that the search has ended.
