Alexandra Park history is being presented in a temporary outdoor exhibition created by Oshawa and the Oshawa Museum.
The display traces 120 years, beginning with the Indigenous history of the land and continuing through the park’s role as a gathering place.
Oshawa’s first public park
Alexandra Park was established in 1906 as Oshawa’s first public park. It became a hub for events, sports and everyday play.
Exhibit connects local stories
One section explores the Southern Ontario Agricultural Fair, once held at the park. Other material covers recreation and the neighbouring nursing school that trained local nurses.
Visitors can view the temporary exhibit outdoors at Alexandra Park. The project connects current park users with the people and events that shaped the site.
The Alexandra Park history exhibit was announced October 5.
