Durham Regional Police Service is preparing to officially launch DRPS Police Week Oshawa Centre activities as part of Ontario’s annual Police Week celebrations running from May 10 to May 16, 2026.
This year’s Police Week theme is “Protecting Ontario through Service,” highlighting the relationship between police services, first responders, and the communities they support. The DRPS Police Week Oshawa Centre event is designed to encourage public engagement and strengthen community connections with local officers.
The launch event will take place on Monday, May 11 at 10 a.m. at the Oshawa Centre, located at 419 King Street West. Throughout the week, members of the Durham Regional Police Service Community Safety Unit will host an information booth on the upper level near Old Navy.
The DRPS Police Week Oshawa Centre display will remain open daily from May 11 to May 14, operating between 10:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Visitors attending the event can meet officers, ask questions, and learn more about community safety initiatives and police services across Durham Region.
One of the highlights of the DRPS Police Week Oshawa Centre event will be the display of vintage police cruisers, giving residents an opportunity to see historic police vehicles up close. Police will also provide free informational materials and giveaways throughout the week.
Officials say the goal of the DRPS Police Week Oshawa Centre initiative is to strengthen trust and communication between the public and law enforcement. Police Week events across Ontario often focus on education, awareness, and recognizing the role police officers and emergency responders play in community safety.
Durham Regional Police are also encouraging residents to follow updates and activities online through social media platforms including X, Instagram, and Facebook. Participating agencies across Ontario will use the hashtag #PoliceWeekON to share information and engage with the public during the campaign.
The DRPS Police Week Oshawa Centre event is expected to attract families, community members, and residents interested in learning more about policing in Durham Region. Community engagement activities such as this help create opportunities for positive interaction between officers and the public.
Police Week has become an annual tradition across Ontario, emphasizing service, partnership, and public safety awareness. The DRPS Police Week Oshawa Centre launch continues that tradition by bringing information and community-focused activities directly to residents in Oshawa.
Residents visiting the Oshawa Centre during the event are encouraged to stop by the information booth and take part in the week’s activities.
