Durham Regional Police have arrested a man in Uxbridge after allegedly discovering a loaded firearm and multiple drugs during an arrest on Boxing Day.
Police say officers located a 27-year-old man, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant, at approximately 9 p.m. on December 26. The man was taken into custody, and officers subsequently found a loaded firearm inside a satchel he was carrying. The weapon was equipped with a prohibited extended magazine.
Investigators also located quantities of cocaine, oxycodone and morphine, which police allege were possessed for the purpose of trafficking. Authorities further noted that the suspect was already under a lifetime court order prohibiting him from possessing firearms, weapons or ammunition.
The accused, who has no fixed address, faces multiple charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, possession of a prohibited device, careless storage of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of breaching a prohibition order.
The man was held in custody for a bail hearing.
