Pickering Highway 401 closures are restricting traffic around Brock Road through Monday morning as crews continue bridge rehabilitation and emergency concrete repairs.
The City of Pickering says Brock Road at Highway 401 is reduced to one lane in each direction from 10 p.m. Friday, September 11, until 5 a.m. Monday, September 14. The work is weather permitting, and the city is warning drivers to expect significant congestion.
Highway 401 itself also has a series of overnight and daytime lane closures between Whites Road and Brock Road.
Eastbound Highway 401 schedule
All eastbound express lanes between Whites Road and Brock Road are scheduled to close during three overnight periods:
- 10 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday
- 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday
- 10 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday
One lane of the eastbound collector off-ramp to Brock Road northbound and southbound is also closed from 9:30 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.
Westbound lane restrictions
On westbound Highway 401, one lane of the collector off-ramp to Brock Road northbound and southbound is closed. Two westbound express lanes at Brock Road are scheduled to close from 9 p.m. Friday until 1 p.m. Saturday, again from 9 p.m. Saturday until 1 p.m. Sunday, and from 9 p.m. Sunday until 1 p.m. Monday.
Drivers should allow extra travel time, follow posted signs and consider alternate routes. The City of Pickering notes that construction schedules and traffic effects can change as work progresses.
Bridge repairs continue
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation is leading rehabilitation work on portions of Brock Road, the CN overpass and the Highway 401 bridge. The city says the weekend restrictions allow the contractor to remove and repair deteriorated concrete beneath bridge lanes without live traffic passing overhead.
Separate from this weekend’s restrictions, the eastbound Highway 401 on-ramp at Brock Road remains closed and is expected to reopen in late fall 2026. Eastbound access is available at Whites Road in Pickering and Westney Road in Ajax.
The Pickering Highway 401 closures are subject to weather and may be adjusted. Drivers can check Ontario 511 before leaving for current conditions.
