Renaissance Park reopens to residents on October 22, the City of Oshawa has announced, setting a firm return date for the redeveloped neighbourhood space at 1529 Connery Crescent.
The city said on October 14 that work was nearing completion. Residents are invited to a community celebration on reopening day from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., with recreation activities, city information tables and fall-themed activities.
The announcement is a substantial update to the park’s earlier construction plans, which identified a fall reopening without this specific date.
Accessible paths and new play features
The redeveloped park includes accessible pathways linking with the waterfront trail and an accessible playground with slides, climbers and sensory play opportunities.
Other amenities listed by the city include a splash pad with overhead and ground spray features, accessible seating, a shade structure and outdoor fitness equipment.
The city also identifies a nature outlook area with native plantings intended to support local wildlife. Native trees and shrubs have been planted throughout the park.
These features bring play, exercise and access to natural surroundings together in the neighbourhood space. The reopening notice lists the splash pad as part of the redevelopment but does not say that water features will operate during the October celebration.
Check event updates before attending
The city thanked residents whose consultation feedback helped shape the final design. It says full celebration details and any event changes, including severe-weather updates, will be posted at oshawa.ca/RenaissancePark.
Residents planning to attend when Renaissance Park reopens should check that city page for the latest event information. The announced celebration runs for one hour on October 22, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
