The Ajax Bicycle Friendly Community designation remains at silver after the town was recognized in the 2026 Ontario awards.
The Share the Road Cycling Coalition presents the awards annually. Ajax was one of five municipalities to receive silver this year.
Third year at silver
Ajax first reached silver in 2017. The town says 2026 marks its third year receiving the designation.
Municipalities are assessed on infrastructure, education, encouragement, enforcement, equity, planning and evaluation.
Network exceeds 180 kilometres
Ajax reports its cycling network extends more than 180 kilometres. Its shared e-scooter and e-bike pilot has recorded more than 70,000 trips since 2023.
Active Transportation Coordinator Armi De Francia also received the Norma Moores Award. Future work will include planning, safer bike connections and cycling programs.
The renewed Ajax Bicycle Friendly Community status recognizes the town’s current work.
