A Whitby bicycle collision left a 14-year-old boy with serious injuries after he was struck by a pickup truck while riding through a crosswalk Wednesday evening.
Durham Regional Police said officers from Central West Division responded to the area of Garden Street and Manning Road at approximately 8:55 p.m. on August 5, 2026.
Police said the teenager was riding a bicycle southbound within the crosswalk when he was struck by a southbound pickup truck that was making a right turn.
The boy was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Whitby Bicycle Collision Remains Under Investigation
The driver of the pickup truck, a 40-year-old woman, remained at the scene following the collision.
Members of the Durham Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit attended to assist with the investigation.
Police have not announced any charges and say investigators are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
No additional information has been released about the teenager’s current condition.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have relevant video footage to contact police.

- Home surveillance recordings
- Business security-camera footage
- Other information about the collision
