Ritson Road lane restrictions will affect a section of north Oshawa for more than a month while Durham Region builds a temporary sidewalk.
The restrictions are scheduled from Monday, October 12 through Friday, November 20 on Ritson Road North, also known as Regional Road 16, between Conlin Road East and Britannia Road East.
Temporary asphalt sidewalk prompts work
The Region of Durham says the work is needed to safely construct a temporary asphalt sidewalk. The project will require lane restrictions, but the regional notice does not describe a full road closure.
Drivers should expect workers, equipment and changing lane conditions in the construction zone. The region is asking motorists to use caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
People walking or cycling through the area should follow temporary signs and any directions from workers. Drivers may want to allow additional travel time during busy periods.
Weather could change the schedule
The October 12 to November 20 schedule is subject to favourable weather. Rain or other conditions could delay construction and extend or shift the restriction period.
Durham Region says it recognizes the disruption and will work to complete the project as quickly and efficiently as possible. Current construction locations and traffic information are available through the region’s TrafficWatch map.
The Ritson Road lane restrictions are separate from other road projects elsewhere in Oshawa. Residents should use the official project notice for updates affecting this specific section between Conlin and Britannia.
