A well-known Tamil restaurant specializing in South Indian cuisine has officially expanded into Oshawa, bringing a wide range of meat and vegetarian dishes to the city.
Veerar Dine In and Catering opened its new location at 472 Taunton Rd. W. on November 19. This marks the restaurant’s second location, following its original vegetarian-only establishment in Markham.
Unlike the Markham outlet, the Oshawa location places a stronger focus on meat-based dishes, while still offering a variety of vegetarian options. The menu features an extensive selection of biryani, kothu roti, fried rice, pasta, curries, and quick bites, available for both dine-in and takeout.
Appetizer options include chicken wings, chilli onion fries, chicken 65 bites, shrimp dishes, patties, and traditional Tamil snacks. Desserts range from cheesecake and laddu to tres leches cake.
Among the most popular menu items are chicken, beef, and mutton biryani, customizable kothu roti with meat or vegetables, and fried rice and noodle dishes offered in vegetarian, chicken, beef, mutton, and seafood varieties.
The restaurant also serves classic South Indian staples such as appam (fermented rice pancakes), puttu (steamed rice flour with coconut), and idiyappam (string hoppers), along with rice combo plates featuring multiple curries and sides. Breakfast items, including dosai and idly, are available throughout the day.
