A Canada flour recall has been issued after insects were discovered in a flour product sold across the country, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
The CFIA says the recalled product is PTI brand Besan Chick Pea Flour, sold in 1.8-kilogram packages. The affected product carries the UPC number 8 28158 15101 2 and has a best-before code of SEP 2027.
The flour was distributed online and in multiple provinces, including Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
The recall has been classified as a Class 3 recall, which the CFIA defines as a situation where there is a low risk that consuming the product would cause adverse health effects. This category may also include products that do not meet legislative requirements.
Consumers are advised not to use the recalled flour and to dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.
