Nominations are open for the Oshawa Community Awards, giving residents until December 4 to recognize people, businesses and organizations making a positive difference in the city.
The 2027 awards cover five broad areas of community contribution. The Accessibility Improvement Award recognizes work that makes Oshawa more accessible and inclusive. The Citizen Volunteer Award is for people who have volunteered with an organization or agency for at least five years.
Five award groups available
The Community Legend Award honours grassroots contributions through arts and culture, sports or local initiatives. Culture Counts includes categories for a professional artist, an emerging artist and an innovation and creation champion.
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Champions Award recognizes efforts to strengthen equity and belonging. Separate distinctions are available for an individual, youth, organization and business.
Nominees should have a meaningful connection to Oshawa and meet the eligibility requirements for the selected award. The city’s online awards page includes full criteria and nomination forms.
Recipients to be recognized in spring
Oshawa City Council is expected to present the awards at a council meeting in spring 2027. Residents are encouraged to submit supporting details that clearly explain the nominee’s contribution and local impact before the deadline.
