Pickering, Ontario – A New Skatepark Coming to Pickering in Summer 2026, providing a 12,000-square-foot space designed for skateboarding, scootering, BMX biking, and inline skating. The park, which will be located in the hydro corridor off Kingston Road and just north of Diana, Princess of Wales Park, promises to be a major new recreational hub for residents of Pickering and surrounding areas.

A Modern Destination for Extreme Sports

The park aims to cater to all ages and abilities, providing a safe and modern environment for extreme sports enthusiasts. It is designed to accommodate various types of activities, with specific areas for different wheeled sports to ensure skaters, BMX riders, and other athletes have room to practice, compete, and enjoy their favorite activities. A Growing Need for Skate Parks in Pickering

The city identified the need for a new community-sized skateboard park through its Skateboard Park Strategy in 2017. The city found that the existing parks could no longer meet the growing demand, especially as more people in Pickering are turning to skateboarding, BMX, and other similar activities.

Construction on the Pickering skatepark is slated to begin soon, with completion expected in summer 2026. The project will be managed by Radius Skateparks Inc., a company well-known for designing and building skateparks across Canada and internationally. Radius Skateparks will ensure that the new facility meets the highest safety standards and provides a versatile space for different types of riders.

Costs and Funding for the Skatepark

The cost of the Pickering skatepark is estimated at $1 million, which includes design and construction costs as well as additional funding for contingencies. The project will be funded through the Parks Capital Budget, with a portion of the cost coming from reserves.

What to Expect from the New Skatepark

Once completed, the new skatepark will feature a variety of skateable areas, including:

  • Dedicated skateboarding and BMX zones

  • Scooter and inline skating areas

  • Challenging obstacles for all skill levels

  • A safe and modern environment for riders

The new park will also provide Pickering residents with a central destination for community events, competitions, and recreational activities, contributing to the city’s goal of creating more outdoor spaces for youth and families.

Looking Ahead to the Future

The new skatepark will not only serve as a recreational space but also as a community hub for Pickering. With its focus on all-wheel sports, the park will help foster a strong sense of community while offering a place for extreme sports enthusiasts to come together and enjoy their favorite activities.
