West Side Drive signal work is continuing at Baseline Road in Bowmanville, where Clarington warns drivers to expect possible lane reductions, brief closures and delays during construction.
In an October 26 notice, the municipality says crews are installing traffic signals to support changing traffic patterns around the new Bowmanville Community Complex.
The project includes traffic poles, signals, electrical conduit and associated equipment. Crews will also remove and replace concrete sidewalk, paint road markings and restore boulevard areas.
Clarington expects construction to finish by the end of November, although some work will extend into spring 2027. The municipality cautions that these dates are approximate and may change because of weather and other factors.
The notice does not announce a continuous closure of the entire intersection or identify a fixed daily closure timetable. Drivers should follow signs and directions at the site rather than assume the roads will be inaccessible throughout the project.
J.J. McGuire is the contractor. Project questions can be directed to the contractor at 905-436-2554 or Clarington’s civil design and construction staff at 905-623-3379, extensions 2322 or 2316.
For emergency issues arising after hours, the municipality lists its Operations contact through Oshawa Fire Dispatch at 905-433-1234. The West Side Drive signal work forms part of the road changes serving the community complex.
