The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is returning to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park near Bowmanville in 2027, bringing one of NASCAR’s three national touring series back to Durham Region for the first time since 2019.
The NASCAR trucks Bowmanville return is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 5, 2027, on Labour Day weekend. NASCAR says the race will serve as the final event of the Truck Series regular season before The Chase begins, giving the Clarington road course an important place on the championship calendar.
Truck Series returning after eight-year gap
Canadian Tire Motorsport Park hosted the NASCAR Truck Series annually from 2013 through 2019. A return was planned for 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted the event and the series did not return in the years that followed.
NASCAR now lists CTMP on its confirmed 2027 national-series schedule, with the Bowmanville-area race set for Sept. 5 and broadcast coverage planned through FOX Sports.
The 2.459-mile, 10-turn road course has produced several notable Truck Series races. NASCAR notes that five of the seven previous CTMP winners currently compete in the Cup Series, with Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney among the early winners.
CTMP gives Durham a national motorsport event
Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is located at 3233 Concession Road 10 in Bowmanville. The facility remains one of Durham Region’s best-known motorsport destinations and regularly hosts major racing series.
NASCAR Canada and IMSA have continued to visit the circuit while the national Truck Series was absent.
NASCAR said the return of CTMP had been a popular request within the sport. Officials also pointed to the track’s new ownership and its willingness to work toward bringing a national-series event back to Canada.
The 2027 event restores an international stop to the Truck Series schedule and returns the race to its traditional Labour Day weekend position.
2026 Labour Day weekend comes first
Before the NASCAR trucks Bowmanville return in 2027, racing fans will have another major Labour Day weekend at CTMP this year.
The track’s 2026 Labour Day Weekend Sprints run from Sept. 4 to 6 and feature the NASCAR Canada Series and Trans Am Series as the main attractions.
Other scheduled series include the Emzone Radical Cup Canada, Formula Regional Americas Championship and Formula 4 United States Championship.
CTMP says its advanced weekend ticket includes general admission, parking and race-team paddock access. Children 16 and younger are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.
2027 race carries playoff importance
The Sept. 5, 2027 Truck Series race will be more than a standalone return to Canada.
NASCAR has positioned Canadian Tire Motorsport Park as the regular-season finale, meaning the event will determine the 10 drivers who advance into The Chase.
That gives the Bowmanville event additional competitive importance on a circuit already known for dramatic road-course racing.
The NASCAR trucks Bowmanville return also gives Clarington another high-profile sporting event capable of drawing race fans from across Ontario, Canada and the northern United States.

For now, NASCAR’s confirmed schedule establishes the key date: Sunday, Sept. 5, 2027, when the Craftsman Truck Series is set to race again at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
