Ajax job applications now run through a new online system that requires candidates to create a Candidate Home account before applying for positions with the Town of Ajax.
The municipality says the account is normally created when a person submits their first application. From the careers portal, applicants can review current openings, select a position and choose one of three ways to begin: uploading a resume to fill fields automatically, reusing information from their most recent application, or entering their education and work history manually.
How the new Ajax job application process works
After creating an account, candidates complete the application sections, answer any job-specific screening questions, review the information and submit it electronically. The system sends an automated confirmation and keeps submitted applications in the Candidate Home area, where applicants can check their status.
The Town says applications can be reviewed or withdrawn while a posting remains open. Anyone who withdraws an application and wants to submit it again must do so before the closing date. Postings close at 11:59 p.m. on the date shown, and late applications are not accepted.
Applicants can also create job alerts based on their interests. Most municipal openings remain posted for about 14 days, while some stay open for three to four weeks to reach a wider group of candidates.
Seasonal timelines and application requirements
The Town’s guidance lists recurring windows for several types of work. Operations summer-student roles are generally posted from November through January. Summer camp and playground opportunities are commonly advertised in November, January and March, while other seasonal positions usually appear from February through April.
Only electronic applications are accepted. The municipality says emailed, mailed or hand-delivered resumes will not be considered. Candidates who receive an employment offer must provide a criminal record check dated within six months of the offer. Some jobs involving vulnerable populations require a vulnerable-sector check, which will be identified in the posting.
The Town also says accommodations are available during recruitment for candidates with disabilities. People selected for an interview are given an opportunity to identify access needs.
The full instructions and current openings are available on the Town of Ajax careers page. Daily Durham reported the application-system update on October 12, 2026.
