Residents of Durham Region and surrounding areas can expect cloudy skies and a chance of showers on March 25, 2026, according to the latest weather forecast from Environment Canada. The forecast predicts a partly cloudy day, with clouds increasing by the afternoon, especially across areas like Oshawa, Whitby, and Pickering.

Morning weather will begin with mainly sunny skies, but by early afternoon, cloudiness will increase, covering much of southern Ontario, including the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). While the temperature will hover around 5°C in Mississauga, the wind chill will make it feel closer to -5°C in the morning, so residents are advised to dress warmly for their morning commute.

In Oshawa, Whitby, and Ajax, temperatures are expected to be slightly cooler due to the wind chill, but the day will still be manageable with the promise of partly cloudy skies in the early hours before cloud cover builds up. Oshawa residents should prepare for a cool morning, though conditions are expected to improve slightly as the day progresses, even though the cloud cover will persist into the afternoon.

Wednesday evening, however, will bring a 40% chance of showers across the GTA. Residents should be prepared for rain during the night, with temperatures dipping to around 3°C, which could feel slightly colder due to the wind chill.

Looking ahead to Thursday, the weather will remain wet in Mississauga and surrounding areas. Rain is expected throughout the day, with temperatures reaching 14°C. However, Thursday night will see a dramatic drop in temperature, with lows expected to fall to around -11°C, bringing a significant chill by evening. This temperature swing from day to night is typical for the transition period between winter and spring in southern Ontario.

As Durham Region enters the second half of March, the changing weather serves as a reminder that temperatures can fluctuate rapidly, requiring residents to stay prepared for both chilly mornings and milder afternoons. For those planning to be outdoors on March 25, it’s recommended to bring an umbrella, as showers are likely to persist into the evening, with more wet weather expected on Thursday.

The cloudy skies and occasional showers throughout southern Ontario are expected to continue as the weather shifts into spring, bringing wetter conditions as the region moves toward April. Residents are advised to monitor updated forecasts as spring weather can be unpredictable, and to prepare for more wet weather in the coming days.
