A DCDSB EQAO training session brought together more than 80 Grade 3 educators for a day of professional learning focused on student achievement and well-being.
The Durham Catholic District School Board said the session took place Monday, October 5 at the Pope Francis Centre. The board published its account on October 8.
Educators reviewed assessment results
Participants analyzed results from the 2025-26 Education Quality and Accountability Office assessments. The session also covered Universal Design for Learning, evidence-based instructional practices and resources for literacy and mathematics instruction.
EQAO Outreach Officer Diana Hong joined the educators to discuss assessment results and data analysis. According to the board, those insights were intended to help teachers use the data when planning classroom instruction.
Members of DCDSB Academic Services and Student Services facilitated the learning. The board described the gathering as part of its continuing approach to collaborative professional development and evidence-based practices.
Focus was on Grade 3 classrooms
Grade 3 is one of the points at which Ontario students complete provincial assessments in reading, writing and mathematics. The DCDSB EQAO training connected those results with classroom strategies and supports for student learning.
The board did not announce a policy change or release school-by-school results in its report. It said the event was designed to support educators as they interpret data and plan instruction.
