A Colborne Street closure will block through traffic in central Oshawa for four days while crews complete a service connection.
Colborne Street West is scheduled to close between Kaiser Crescent and Centre Street North from Tuesday, September 8 through Friday, September 11.
No through access for emergency vehicles
The City of Oshawa says emergency vehicles will not have through access within the closed section. Drivers should plan an alternate route and follow temporary traffic-control signs around the work area.
Residents and visitors heading to properties near the closure should allow extra travel time. Access conditions can change as construction progresses, and drivers should not move or pass road barricades.
Service connection at 115 Colborne Street West
The closure is required for a service connection at 115 Colborne Street West. The City’s notice identifies Boyle Excavating Ltd. as the contractor associated with the work.
Temporary-condition signs will be installed in accordance with provincial standards. The announcement does not specify a signed detour, so motorists should use surrounding streets that are open and suitable for their vehicle.
Closure scheduled to end Sept. 11
The notice lists September 11 as the final scheduled day. Construction schedules can be affected by weather, site conditions or utility work, and residents should watch for updated signs or a revised notice if the timing changes.
Pedestrians and cyclists approaching the area should follow any on-site directions and avoid entering the active work zone. Drivers should reduce speed on nearby residential streets and remain alert for construction vehicles.
The closure is separate from an earlier Colborne Street West disruption reported in March and concerns the September service-connection work between Kaiser Crescent and Centre Street North.
