The Bay Ridges Kinsmen playground in Pickering is temporarily closed for reconstruction, with work scheduled from October 19 through November 11.
The City of Pickering published the service-disruption notice on October 21. The project includes new playground equipment and rubberized safety surfacing, along with new swing equipment using engineered wood fibre safety surfacing.
Temporary closure during construction
The notice identifies the playground as the area affected by the closure. It does not announce a park-wide shutdown or specify a separate closure for surrounding amenities.
Residents should keep clear of the construction area and follow posted directions while the work is underway. The announcement does not provide a confirmed reopening ceremony or a detailed day-by-day construction schedule.
Dates remain estimates
November 11 is the listed end of the construction window, rather than a guarantee that conditions cannot change. The city says project timelines may be adjusted because of weather, contractor or material availability, or unexpected conditions discovered during excavation.
Residents planning to use the Bay Ridges Kinsmen playground should check the city’s current service announcement for any revised dates.
For more information, the notice directs residents to Parks Development Coordinator Jia Dhatt at 905-420-4660, extension 2060. The city’s service-disruption line is 1-866-278-9993.
