Residents across Durham Region are preparing to take part in the upcoming IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s 2026 in support of individuals and families affected by dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
The annual community event, organized by the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region and locally presented by Home Instead Durham Region, will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ajax Downs, located at 50 Alexander’s Crossing in Ajax.
Organizers say the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s 2026 serves as both a fundraiser and awareness event focused on supporting dementia care programs and services throughout Durham Region.
Community members are encouraged to participate by walking, fundraising, donating, or attending the family-friendly event activities taking place throughout the morning.
According to the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region, nearly 12,000 people across Durham Region are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.
Funds raised through the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s 2026 will directly support local services, education programs, caregiver resources, and support initiatives for individuals and families impacted by dementia.
The event will also include refreshments, entertainment, and activities designed for participants of all ages.
Organizers say the walk is intended to bring communities together while raising awareness about the growing impact of Alzheimer’s disease across Ontario and Canada.
The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s 2026 continues to be one of the Alzheimer Society’s largest annual fundraising events, helping fund critical support programs throughout Durham Region communities including Ajax, Oshawa, Whitby, Pickering, Clarington, Brock, Scugog, and Uxbridge.
Healthcare organizations continue warning that dementia-related illnesses are expected to increase significantly as Canada’s population ages, placing additional pressure on caregivers, healthcare systems, and support services.
Officials say events such as the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s 2026 help provide practical support for local families while also encouraging conversations about dementia awareness and mental health.
Participants attending the event are encouraged to register online in advance through the official walk registration platform.
Community fundraising walks remain important opportunities for local charities and healthcare organizations to generate funding while strengthening public engagement and awareness around major health issues affecting residents throughout Durham Region.
Organizers say no one should face Alzheimer’s disease or dementia alone, and community support continues playing a major role in helping affected individuals access programs and services.
Residents interested in participating, volunteering, or donating can find additional information through the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region website.
