Boonies Unplugged is an intimate acoustic music event that brings together artists and the local community for a memorable evening of storytelling, music, and connection. Held at Bounty from the Boonies Storefront in Uxbridge, this event is inspired by deep community conversations held within the shop and gardens, focusing on the healing power of creativity, art, and plant therapy.
This unique event provides a special space for artists to showcase their acoustic music, while engaging with their audience on a personal level. Rather than performing in loud, traditional venues, performers at Boonies Unplugged offer conversation-style concerts, sharing the origins of their songs, their personal stories, and even engaging with the audience through questions and discussions. This setting encourages an intimate atmosphere where both the performers and audience can connect in a meaningful way.
One of the event’s highlights is the plant and pollinator mural created by local artist Sjeli Pearse. This stunning mural sets the perfect backdrop for the performers, creating a natural stage where music and art can coexist. The mural, with its focus on plants and pollinators, ties into the theme of the event, which celebrates both the healing power of nature and the creative process.
As part of the event’s commitment to supporting local artists, all sales from the tickets go directly to the performers. Additionally, $5 from each ticket sale will be donated to the Beez Kneez Therapeutic Working Garden at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences in Whitby, a cause close to the heart of Boonies Unplugged founder, Carly McDougall. Carly has personally received treatment at Ontario Shores and is passionate about supporting mental health services through the therapeutic benefits of gardening and creative expression.
The event is scheduled for February 27, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and is expected to provide a relaxing and meaningful experience for attendees. Tickets are priced at $30, with proceeds supporting both the artists and mental health initiatives.
Boonies Unplugged is not just an event, but a celebration of community, art, and healing. It offers a safe space for people to connect with the music, the performers, and each other, all while supporting important causes in the local community.
