A 66-year-old Ajax man has been charged as part of two Ajax sexual assault investigations, and police say they are concerned there may be other victims.
Durham Regional Police allege the first incident happened at about 8:30 a.m. on July 9 near Harwood Avenue North and Rossland Road. A man approached a woman, attempted to begin a conversation and shake her hand, then sexually assaulted her before leaving the area.
Police linked a second Ajax incident
Investigators identified a similar incident from September 15. Police allege a man approached a woman at about 3:15 p.m. on Miller Creek Trail, south of Rossland Road near Bennett Avenue.
The man again attempted to begin a conversation before sexually assaulting the woman and leaving on foot, according to police.
Hakim Hussainzada, 66, of Ajax, is charged with two counts of sexual assault. The allegations have not been proven in court.
Police described the accused as about five feet three inches tall with a thin build, short white and grey hair, scruffy facial hair and missing front teeth.
Investigators ask other possible victims to come forward
Anyone with information or a similar experience is asked to contact Detective Constable Jiggins of the Special Victims Unit at 1-888-579-1520, extension 5312. Anonymous information can be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers.
Police did not announce additional charges or identify further complainants in the October 8 update on the Ajax sexual assault investigations.
