Oshawa police training is bringing a heavy officer presence to the area near the Canadian Tank Museum on Wednesday, October 7.
Durham Regional Police Service advised that the activity is a scheduled training exercise rather than a response to a newly reported public emergency.
The exercise is taking place near Stevenson Road North and Fairglen Avenue. The location is north of three schools, making the advance notice relevant to families, students, staff and drivers using roads in the area.
What residents should expect
Police said a large number of officers would be present during the exercise. An exact start or end time was not included in the information available Wednesday morning.
Residents may therefore see police vehicles and personnel around the museum area without a related emergency notice. Anyone who encounters an active closure or direction from an officer should follow posted signs and on-scene instructions.
The notice did not identify the training scenario, list any road closures or state that school operations would be affected. Those details should not be assumed unless police or another responsible authority issues an update.
The Canadian Tank Museum is near Oshawa Executive Airport on Stevenson Road North. Drivers travelling through the area should allow for the possibility of added activity while the Oshawa police training is underway.
