Oshawa Community Safety Day will bring firefighters, police and paramedics together for a free family event on Saturday, October 3.
The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Oshawa Fire Station 5, located at 1550 Harmony Road North in north Oshawa.
Emergency vehicles and live demonstrations
Oshawa Fire Services will host the event with displays and representatives from the Durham Regional Police Service and Durham Region Emergency Medical Services.
The three emergency-service organizations are expected to showcase equipment and vehicles used in their work. The program also includes live demonstrations involving vehicle rescue and rappelling, along with other activities explaining the agencies’ roles in community safety.
The event gives residents an opportunity to meet local emergency responders and see some of the equipment used in fire, police and paramedic operations. It is designed as a family event and admission is free.
Visitors should use the Fire Station 5 location on Harmony Road North when planning their trip. The published event window runs for four hours, ending at 3 p.m.
Oshawa Community Safety Day is separate from Fire Prevention Week, which runs October 4 to 10 and focuses this year on safe charging practices for lithium-ion battery devices.
