The Uxbridge youth watershed workshop Brook Never Sleeps will return Friday, November 13 with a free day of hands-on ecology activities for children ages eight to 12.
The Township of Uxbridge says the program will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall, 51 Toronto Street South. November 13 is a PA Day for elementary and secondary students, and lunch and snacks will be provided.
Creek study and water safety planned
Participants will trap minnows, survey Uxbridge Brook for benthic creatures and learn about the local watershed. Scales Nature Park, Ontario Streams and the Uxbridge Fire Department are scheduled to join the program with live-animal activities and water-safety instruction.
Some activities will take place outdoors, so families are advised to ensure children dress for the weather. The Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Committee is organizing the workshop with Scales Nature Park, Ontario Streams, Bird Friendly Uxbridge and the township.
Registration information for the Uxbridge youth watershed workshop is available through the official municipal notice.
