The Robert McLaughlin Gallery will launch three RMG fall exhibitions with a free public opening in downtown Oshawa on Saturday, September 26.
The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. and includes an official welcome at 1:30 p.m., an artist talk with Zoe Ann Cardinal Cire and a curatorial tour of Everyday Matters.
In Plains Air marks Canadian museum solo debut
Zoe Ann Cardinal Cire: In Plains Air is the artist’s first museum solo exhibition in Canada. The gallery says the new work was shaped by time spent on her ancestral territories in Treaty 6 and reconsiders Western plein-air painting through Cree worldviews.
The exhibition includes painting, textiles, earth pigments and sculptural elements that explore land, language, memory and the material connections between art and lived experience. It runs from September 26, 2026, to February 14, 2027.
Permanent collection exhibitions also featured
Everyday Matters considers how artists find meaning in ordinary objects, domestic work and daily routines. The show draws from the RMG permanent collection and runs through August 22, 2027.
Recent Acquisitions: Abstraction brings together abstract works acquired by the gallery during the past five years. Admission to the September 26 opening is free, and refreshments will be served.
