Durham highway closures include 39 scheduled lane and ramp restrictions affecting provincial routes on and around September 12, with drivers advised to allow extra time.

The work affects sections of highways 401, 407 ETR, 412, 35/115, 35, 12 and 7A. The list includes active weekend work as well as restrictions scheduled to begin later in September.

Highway 401 work spans Pickering to Clarington

In Pickering, left lanes on both the eastbound and westbound Brock Road ramps are scheduled to remain closed from Friday night until early Monday. Two westbound express lanes at Brock Road are also scheduled to close overnight through Monday morning.

Other Highway 401 restrictions include overnight work between Salem Road in Ajax and Brock Road in Pickering, between Stevenson Road in Oshawa and Salem Road, and between Harmony Road in Oshawa and Boundary Road near Port Hope.

Oshawa work also includes eastbound restrictions around Ritson and Harmony roads. Drivers should watch for changing lane configurations and reduced speeds near workers and equipment.

More restrictions begin next week

Upcoming work includes Highway 412 lane restrictions in Whitby, Highway 7A westbound work near Queen Street and Highway 7/12 in Port Perry, and Highway 35/115 restrictions in Clarington.

Some entries in the provincial schedule are overnight or daily closures rather than continuous shutdowns. Dates can change because of weather or construction conditions.

Drivers should check Ontario 511 immediately before travelling for current status, exact times and any newly added incidents or closures.
