After a six-year hiatus, YWCA Durham is bringing back its popular Starry Nights fundraiser, inviting the Durham Region community to help support women and families accessing emergency shelter services.
The fundraising event will take place on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Harmony Event Centre in Oshawa. Organizers expect approximately 200 guests for an evening of entertainment, community networking, and a silent auction. All proceeds will support YWCA Durham’s Y’s WISH Shelter, which provides emergency and crisis housing for women in need.
YWCA Durham is also seeking support from local businesses and community partners through event sponsorships and donations of silent auction items. These contributions will help raise essential funds to ensure the shelter can continue providing critical services to women and families experiencing crisis situations throughout Durham Region.
“We haven’t hosted a Starry Nights for six years—we’re hoping to make a big return,” said Debra Mattson, Communications and Fund Development Manager at YWCA Durham.
