Whitby election voting will include advance polls, election-day locations and a special mail-in ballot, and residents are being urged to plan before October 26.
The town launched a consolidated online planning tool on September 14, six weeks before election day. It allows residents to verify or update their voters’ list information, review candidates, find voting locations and build a voting plan.
Residents do not have to wait until October 26. Advance voting is scheduled from October 22 through October 25 at three locations. On election day, voters will be able to use one of 19 locations across Whitby.
Exact hours and addresses are available through the town’s Plan Your Vote portal. Because a voter’s assigned options can depend on their address, electors should use the official tool rather than relying on a general location list.
Mail-in ballot deadlines arrive earlier
Whitby is also offering special mail-in ballots. The application deadline varies depending on how the request is submitted.
- Applications sent by mail should be submitted no later than October 4 to allow time for Canada Post delivery.
- Email applications must reach the Office of the Town Clerk by October 11.
- In-person applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on October 21.
Those dates apply to obtaining the special ballot package. Voters using the option should also review the town’s instructions for completing and returning the package so it reaches election officials on time.
Check registration before voting
Confirming voters’ list information in advance can prevent avoidable delays. The portal also links to the official candidate list, giving residents one place to review the races in their ward and prepare before arriving at a voting location.
The October 26 vote will choose Whitby’s municipal representatives and eligible school-board trustees for the next term. Residents should rely on the town’s election pages for any schedule changes, identification requirements or accessibility information.
