Uxbridge and Bowmanville bus detours will change four Durham Region Transit routes on Wednesday, November 11, as road closures make room for Remembrance Day services and a downtown Bowmanville parade.

DRT published three service notices on November 5 covering Routes 605 and 905C in Uxbridge and Routes 502 and 902 in Bowmanville. The new notices concern different communities and routes from the Brooklin, Oshawa and Whitby detours already announced for the same day.

Uxbridge: Routes 605 and 905C

The Uxbridge notices list a detour window of 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on November 11. Passengers should also check the individual departures below: Route 905C includes trips leaving Whitby Station before that local road-closure window.

For Route 605, DRT identifies departures from Railway Street southbound at Albert Street at 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., noon and 12:30 p.m.

Trips heading toward Railway Street will run via Mill Street, Reach Street, Coral Creek Crescent, Nelkydd Lane, Brock Street, Second Avenue, Dominion Street, Main Street North, Toronto Street North and King Street West.

In the other direction, toward Welwood Drive, buses will use Albert Street, Toronto Street North, Dominion Street, Second Avenue, Franklin Street, Reach Street and Mill Street.

For Route 905C, the northbound departures from Whitby Station at 8:49 a.m. and 10:19 a.m. will use Second Avenue, Dominion Street, Main Street North, Toronto Street North and King Street West in Uxbridge.

The southbound 11:31 a.m. departure from Railway Street southbound at Albert Street will travel via Albert Street, Toronto Street North, Dominion Street and Second Avenue.

Bowmanville: Routes 502 and 902

In downtown Bowmanville, the detour period is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on November 11 because of a Remembrance Day parade on King Street.

Eastbound Route 902 service will use Scugog Street, Church Street and Liberty Street. Westbound Route 902 will travel via Ontario Street, Queen Street and Scugog Street.

DRT also lists a routing change for Route 502 westbound and Route 502C. Its notice says service in both directions will operate via Church Street, Liberty Street, King Street, Ontario Street, Queen Street and Scugog Street.

Three temporary boarding locations are listed for Bowmanville:

  • Scugog Street northbound at King Street.
  • King Street westbound at Liberty Street.
  • King Street westbound at Scugog Street.

Check the notice for the route you use

The Uxbridge and Bowmanville bus detours are temporary routing arrangements, not announcements that the affected routes are being cancelled. Riders should check the appropriate official notice before travelling and allow for a different path through the affected downtown.

The Uxbridge notices describe the changed streets and specific trips, while the Bowmanville notice also identifies temporary stops. These details should not be treated as one interchangeable detour for every route.

Daily Durham has also reported the Uxbridge and Bowmanville changes. The routes, departure times and boarding locations above have been checked against DRT’s own three notices.
