The Whitby budget survey is open until November 20, giving residents a chance to identify which community improvements should receive attention in the Town’s 2027 spending plan.
The consultation began November 5. Residents are asked to visit Connect Whitby’s budget page and select their top two priorities from the available categories.
Six areas for community improvements
The choices cover parks and trails, roads, recreation centres, snow-clearing equipment, road safety, and the marina and waterfront.
The exercise asks residents to make choices between priorities rather than simply endorse every possible improvement. The Town says council will review the results to understand residents’ preferences and help inform decisions before the 2027 budget is adopted.
The consultation is not an announcement of an approved tax increase, a new construction contract or a guarantee that the most popular category will receive a particular amount of money. No such figures are provided in the launch notice.
How to take part
Residents can find the Whitby budget survey and further information at Connect Whitby’s budget page. The deadline to share priorities is November 20.
The Town says its budget choices must balance community needs, costs and affordability. Feedback from this engagement will form part of council’s consideration of those choices.
Durham Radio News also reported the opening of the consultation on November 5. The Town’s own announcement is the responsible source for the available categories, participation window and purpose of the survey.
