The final Oshawa Sixes results delivered two one-goal gold-medal games, with the United States defeating Canada in both the women’s and men’s finals of the 2026 Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championships.
The six-day tournament concluded Sunday in Oshawa after deciding medal positions and the region’s qualification places for the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships.
United States women rally past Canada
The American women came back to beat host Canada 15-14. Emma LoPinto scored the winning goal with 38 seconds remaining, while teammate Chloe Humphrey finished with five goals.
Puerto Rico earned the women’s bronze medal with a 15-9 victory over the Haudenosaunee. Argentina secured fifth place and a world-championship berth by defeating Jamaica 17-11. Brazil took seventh with a 17-15 win over Mexico.
Men’s final decided with one second left
The United States men’s team also prevailed in dramatic fashion, scoring twice in the final minute to defeat Canada 12-11. Coulter Mackesy tied the game with 23 seconds left before Patrick Kavanagh scored the power-play winner with one second remaining.
The Haudenosaunee claimed men’s bronze with a 15-13 win over Puerto Rico. Goalkeeper Warren Hill made 15 saves, and Trysen Sunday scored the go-ahead goal with 1:10 to play.
Brazil captured fifth place and the final men’s qualification position by holding off Jamaica 17-15. Chile defeated Mexico 28-15 in the seventh-place game.
Ten teams qualify for 2027 championships
The top five teams in each competition advanced to the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships in Colorado Springs. The qualified men’s teams are the United States, Canada, the Haudenosaunee, Puerto Rico and Brazil.
The qualified women’s teams are the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, the Haudenosaunee and Argentina. Additional places will be decided at other continental championships.
World Lacrosse says teams will be able to qualify directly from the 2027 event for the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028, where the sixes format will make its Olympic debut.
The tournament’s all-star selections included Canadians Nicole Perroni and goalkeeper Kameron Halsall on the women’s team, plus Willem Firth and Finn Thomson on the men’s team.
These final Oshawa Sixes results are a substantial conclusion to the tournament that began September 29, replacing preliminary schedules with completed scores, medal standings and confirmed qualification places.
