Ed Broadbent Park washroom construction will close the northern section of the Oshawa waterfront park from Monday, September 14, through spring 2027.
The City of Oshawa says the closure is needed to build a permanent public washroom at Ed Broadbent Park, located at 169 Harbour Road near Simcoe Street South.
Construction fencing will limit access to parts of the park, and sections of the multi-use trail will be unavailable while work continues. Visitors should follow posted detours and stay outside fenced work areas.
The vacant overflow parking lot on the north side of Harbour Road will also be closed for the duration of the project. The city expects those restrictions to remain in place through the winter and into spring 2027.
Several key amenities will remain open. Oshawa says the main parking lot on the south side of the park will continue to be available, while the main event stage and the portable washrooms east of the stage will not be affected.
The Ed Broadbent Park washroom construction creates a long-term closure in one portion of the waterfront property, but the rest of the park is not scheduled to close. Dates may change if weather or construction conditions affect the project.
