Durham Region September 30 service closures will affect regional offices, courts, clinics and public facilities for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Durham Regional Headquarters in Whitby will close, including Provincial Offences Courts and offices, Ontario Works, Child Care and Early Years offices, front counters and call-centre services. Family Services Durham locations and Ontario Works offices in Ajax, Oshawa and Uxbridge will also close.
Health, waste and adult day programs affected
Adult Day Programs at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa and Lakeview Manor in Beaverton will not operate. Waste facilities in Brock, Scugog and Oshawa, the Clarington Household Special Waste Depot and the Waste Management Centre in Whitby will close. Regular curbside waste collection will continue.
Regional oral-health, sexual-health, breastfeeding and immunization clinics will be unavailable. Water-sample drop-off and pickup will pause from 8:30 a.m. September 29 until 8:30 a.m. October 1 at regional locations in Whitby, Port Perry, Uxbridge and Bowmanville.
Transit and outreach continue
Durham Region Transit and directly operated early learning and child-care centres will continue without changes. Durham Region Outreach will continue helping people experiencing homelessness. Online court tools will remain available, although court email and in-person services will not be monitored during the closure.
