The Durham Police Ride to Remember team has raised $2,000 for an organization that supports families of officers who died in service.
Durham Radio News reports that the DRPS cycling team joined police services from across Ontario for the 725-kilometre Canadian Police Memorial Ride to Remember, which ends in Ottawa for the National Police Memorial.
More than 200 riders stopped in Durham
More than 200 riders made a short stop at DRPS East Division. Chief Peter Moreira, Deputy Chief Chirag Bhatt and two superintendents welcomed participants.
The Durham team donated its fundraising to SOLE, which assists families of police officers who lost their lives while serving their communities.
The ride leads into Police and Peace Officers National Memorial Day, observed on the final Sunday of September.
