Southern Ontario residents should prepare for a mix of rain, snow, and blustery conditions on Friday, with snowfall totals reaching up to 10 centimetres in some areas, according to Environment Canada.
The weather agency says the morning will begin with rain transitioning to flurries across much of the Greater Toronto Area, including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oshawa, and the Niagara region. Up to 2 cm of snowfall is expected in these areas.
Further north, snowfall amounts could be higher, with Barrie forecast to receive around 5 cm, while Goderich, Orillia, and Gravenhurst could see as much as 10 cm.
Winds will be strong throughout the day, with west winds near 40 km/h and gusts reaching 60 km/h, creating blowing snow and reduced visibility in some locations.
Temperatures are expected to drop to around -2°C in the afternoon. However, wind chill values could make it feel closer to -14°C in areas such as Mississauga.
Flurries are expected to taper off early Friday evening, though gusty winds will persist. Overnight lows will dip to around -8°C, with wind chill values making it feel closer to -13°C.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Environment Canada forecasts cloudy conditions with a 40 per cent chance of flurries on both Saturday and Sunday across parts of southern Ontario.
