A Courtice Highway 401 crash has claimed the life of a woman after a vehicle collided on the eastbound off-ramp at Courtice Road early Sunday, November 1.

Ontario Provincial Police confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at hospital following the single-vehicle collision. The service said the exit ramp remained closed while its on-site investigation continued.

Collision reported early Sunday

CityNews reported that provincial police were called to the ramp at about 5:30 a.m. Police told the outlet that the driver was taken to hospital, where she later died.

CP24, citing Toronto OPP, reported that the woman was the vehicle’s only occupant. Her name and age were not provided in the reports reviewed.

Police investigate at the Courtice Road exit

In an update labelled 9:50 a.m., OPP said the eastbound exit remained closed and that the investigation was ongoing. That statement describes the ramp’s status at the time of the update; it is not a confirmed reopening timetable.

The Courtice Highway 401 crash report does not establish what caused the vehicle to leave its path or identify any charges. Drivers should follow current police directions and check live traffic information before using the interchange.
