A disturbing confrontation in a busy intersection has resulted in criminal charges following an Ajax Road Rage Assault that took place late last week. On May 1, 2026, at approximately 3:50 p.m., the Durham Regional Police Service responded to reports of an altercation involving two motorists in the area of Kingston Road West and Westney Road South. The incident, which occurred during the peak of the afternoon commute, highlights a growing concern regarding aggressive driving and interpersonal violence on local roadways.

According to investigators from the West Division, the two drivers were engaged in a heated road rage dispute while traveling through the intersection. The situation escalated rapidly when one of the drivers chose to abruptly stop his vehicle in the middle of the road, effectively blocking the other motorist’s path. The suspect then exited his vehicle and approached the second driver on foot. In a sudden act of violence, the suspect reportedly reached through the victim’s open vehicle window and physically assaulted them before returning to his car and fleeing the scene.

By the following day, Saturday, May 2, 2026, officers successfully identified and located the suspect. The individual was taken into custody without further incident.

Police have identified the accused as William Alexander Martin, a 35-year-old resident of Ajax. Martin has been officially charged with one count of Assault. Following his arrest, he was released on an undertaking with specific conditions pending a future court appearance. While the victim’s physical injuries were not reported to be life-threatening, the psychological impact of such a brazen daytime attack has resonated with the local community.

In the wake of this Ajax Road Rage Assault, authorities are reminding the public of the dangers of engaging with aggressive drivers. Safety experts suggest that if a motorist feels threatened or followed, they should remain inside their locked vehicle, avoid making eye contact or gestures, and drive to the nearest police station or a well-lit public area. Engaging in a verbal or physical confrontation can lead to unpredictable and dangerous outcomes, as seen in this recent case.

Durham Regional Police are still looking to gather more evidence to support the prosecution. They are appealing to the public for any additional information that could assist in the case. Specifically, investigators are looking for anyone who may have captured the incident on a cell phone, dash camera, or nearby business surveillance system.

Anyone with information regarding this Ajax Road Rage Assault is urged to contact Constable Curtis of the West Division at 1-888-579-1520, extension 1901. For those who wish to remain anonymous, tips can be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or through their website. Information leading to an arrest or conviction may be eligible for a cash reward, and the identity of the tipster is kept strictly confidential.
