Residents across Ajax and Durham Region are being invited to support Canadians living with disabilities during the upcoming Ajax Lions Club Walk for Dog Guides later this month.
The annual community fundraising event will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the Ajax Lions Clubhouse, located at 500 Clements Road West in Ajax.
Organizers say registration for the walk begins at 9:30 a.m., with participants starting the walk at 10:00 a.m.
The walk route is expected to last approximately 30 minutes and will follow the trail path located behind the Lions clubhouse.
Hosted by the Ajax Lions Club in partnership with Pet Valu Pickering Parkway, the Ajax Lions Club Walk for Dog Guides is part of the larger Lions Foundation of Canada fundraising campaign supporting Dog Guides programs nationwide.
According to organizers, the event helps raise funds to provide specially trained Dog Guides for Canadians living with disabilities.
Dog Guides assist individuals facing a variety of challenges including vision loss, hearing impairment, physical disabilities, diabetes management, seizure response needs, autism support, and traumatic injury recovery.
Officials say the Ajax Lions Club Walk for Dog Guides is intended to bring together families, community members, volunteers, and local supporters while helping raise awareness about accessibility and support services available through Dog Guides programs.
Participants attending the event can expect prizes, refreshments, water, and family-friendly community activities throughout the morning.
Community fundraising walks continue playing an important role across Durham Region by helping charitable organizations generate support while encouraging local community engagement.
The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides program relies heavily on fundraising events and public donations to continue training and matching service dogs with Canadians in need.
Organizers say every participant and donation connected to the Ajax Lions Club Walk for Dog Guides directly contributes toward providing life-changing assistance dogs for individuals across Canada.
Dog Guide training programs often require extensive resources, specialized care, and long-term support before dogs are placed with recipients.
The annual fundraising walk has become one of the Lions Foundation’s largest community awareness campaigns held in municipalities across Ontario and Canada.
Local service clubs such as the Ajax Lions Club continue organizing volunteer-driven events that support healthcare, accessibility, youth programming, and charitable initiatives throughout Durham Region.
Residents interested in supporting the Ajax Lions Club Walk for Dog Guides can participate in the walk itself or contribute through online fundraising and donations.
Organizers encourage families, pet owners, and community supporters to attend and help raise awareness about the importance of Dog Guide services for Canadians living with disabilities.
Participation in the walk is free.
