Residents in Durham Region looking for a creative way to brighten the final days of winter can take part in a hands-on craft workshop in Uxbridge this March.
The “Winter Joy: Driftwood Suncatcher + Air Plant Holder” workshop will be held on March 13, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bounty from the Boonies storefront located at 18 Brock Street West in Uxbridge.
The workshop will be led by Carly McDougall, the shop owner of Bounty from the Boonies, who will guide participants through the process of creating a colourful decorative piece using natural and recycled materials.
During the session, attendees will design and build their own driftwood suncatcher combined with an air plant holder. The craft project incorporates a variety of decorative materials including beads, costume jewelry, sparkling crystals, wire, polished stones and driftwood.
Participants will also learn about the care and life cycle of air plants, including how to properly maintain them so they can thrive indoors.
Each participant will create a unique decorative piece that allows sunlight to pass through the hanging crystals and beads while holding a living air plant as part of the design.
Organizers say the workshop aims to bring light and creativity to the darker winter season while providing an opportunity for people to relax and explore their artistic side.
The ticket price for the workshop is $65, which includes all the materials required to complete the craft project.
Participants will also receive their own air plant to take home, along with private instruction in a small-group setting to ensure personalized guidance throughout the activity.
In addition to the craft experience, guests will also enjoy a complimentary beverage during the workshop.
Attendees will also have access to private shopping at the Bounty from the Boonies store, with 10 per cent off selected items during the event.
The workshop is designed for small groups to create a relaxed environment where participants can learn new crafting techniques while enjoying a social and creative evening.
Bounty from the Boonies is known locally for hosting creative workshops that focus on handmade crafts, nature-inspired décor and community experiences.
Residents from Uxbridge, Oshawa, Ajax, Pickering, Whitby and other parts of Durham Region are expected to attend the event as the community continues to support local businesses and creative gatherings.
