The Durham Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) is currently handling the investigation, along with the coroner’s office. Authorities are looking into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event, and the investigation is ongoing. At this stage, police have indicated that the collision is likely due to the operator’s medical condition, rather than any mechanical or external factors.

While no further details about the man’s medical history or the specific cause of the episode have been shared, this tragic event has brought attention to the safety of workers performing essential tasks, such as snow removal, during challenging winter conditions.

Durham Regional Police are requesting the public’s help in their investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information is encouraged to come forward. D/Cst. Lee of the Collision Investigation Unit is leading the investigation, and can be contacted at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5231.
