An Ajax lottery winner is celebrating a $100,000 prize, with local reporting describing a family gathering to share the news.
Durham Radio News reported October 22 that Edward P., a 73-year-old retiree from Ajax, plans to use the money to pay bills, save and invest. He described the win as his first major lottery prize.
The report says he waited until his wife and children could be together before revealing the result. His account focused on surprise and gratitude rather than an immediate large purchase.
OLG’s published prize-payment list for October 9 separately records Edward Phillip of Ajax receiving $100,000 for a LOTTO MAX draw dated October 6. The payment date, draw date and date of the new local news report are different; this is not a claim that the draw took place October 22.
According to Durham Radio News, the ticket was purchased at a Rexall on New Street in Burlington. The substantive Durham connection is the verified Ajax winner and his account of receiving the prize, although the purchase was made outside the region.
