As the new year begins, Clarington officials are reflecting on progress made toward key parks, recreation, and culture priorities and looking ahead to major projects planned for 2026.
Following the completion of the municipality’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan in 2024, Clarington moved forward in 2025 on several long-term initiatives, including planning work for the redevelopment of the Courtice waterfront.
Mayor Adrian Foster acknowledged the importance of the waterfront project, noting that it has been under discussion for many years.
“That has been in the works for so long, it would be nice to pin that down,” Foster said, adding that progress is expected in the coming year.
Municipal officials say the focus remains on balancing multiple park and recreation priorities while advancing projects that will enhance public access, community spaces, and long-term recreational opportunities across Clarington.
Further updates on the Courtice waterfront and other park-related initiatives are expected as planning efforts continue in 2026.
