Whitby November events announced in the Town’s November 1 newsletter range from a same-day pumpkin gathering to theatre, community markets and late-month holiday activities.
The municipal update brings together dates for Whitby and Brooklin. Residents should check the relevant organiser’s current information before attending, particularly where booking details or further programming have not yet been published.
Pumpkins and a local book launch
Pumpkins in the Park takes place today, November 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the park listed in the newsletter as Rotary Central Park, 900 Brock Street South. Councillor Niki Lundquist hosts the free community event, which includes popcorn, hot chocolate, a performance of Thriller by Ana-Maria Dance Academy and a scavenger hunt from Durham Escape Rooms. Lynde House Museum and Whitby Town Criers are also listed.
Participants are asked to bring their Halloween pumpkins by 4:45 p.m. Non-perishable food donations are welcome. The street address is useful for finding the site because park-name wording varies across listings.
Whitby author Kamryn Gobeil, 13, will hold a launch and signing for her children’s book, I Can Feel This Way and Do It Anyway, on November 5 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Brooklin Community Centre. This is an announced local event for the book previously profiled by All About Durham, not a second book release.
Theatre and early-November markets
Whitby Courthouse Theatre presents Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? from November 5 to 21. The theatre’s website also lists the production as opening soon and directs visitors to its ticketing service. Individual performance times should be checked there rather than assuming the show runs every day in that period.
Durham Christian Homes will host its Fall Market on November 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 200 Glen Hill Drive South. The announced offerings include baking, crafts, woodworking and a café serving coffee and homemade poffertjes.
The Downtown Whitby BIA Christmas Market follows at Celebration Square, 405 Dundas Street West. Hours are 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, November 13, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 14. The newsletter lists handmade gifts, seasonal décor and holiday treats.
Brooklin festivities and lights
Christmas in the Village is scheduled for November 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at locations across Downtown Brooklin. Planned activities include visits with Santa, crafts and a scavenger hunt. The Town’s event page confirms the date while noting that detailed site information is still forthcoming.
Whitby Lights the Night takes place November 27 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Civic Park beside Town Hall. The official event page lists a 5:30 p.m. tree-lighting ceremony, live entertainment, a Christmas farmers’ market, activities and an inclusive sensory room.
The Town says seasonal illuminations will then operate from dusk until 10 p.m. through January 4, 2027, across Civic Park, Celebration Square and Grass Park. The ongoing light displays are distinct from the November 27 festival programme.
Finally, the Central Library at 405 Dundas Street West will hold an all-ages Hanukkah Storytime on November 28 from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
The Whitby November events roundup supplies dates and announced activities, not a blanket promise that every event is free or requires no registration.
