Whitby firefighter Angela Brandon has retired after 30 years with Whitby Fire and Emergency Services, according to the Town’s November 1 municipal newsletter.
The newly released recognition identifies Brandon as Whitby’s first female fire suppression firefighter. Mayor Elizabeth Roy thanked her for her service protecting residents and recognized her role as a mentor within the community.
Three decades of service
The tribute appears in the newsletter’s Community Builders section, which highlights people and organisations contributing to life in Whitby.
Brandon’s recognition concerns both the length of her career and her place in the department’s history. The announcement does not give an exact retirement date or outline her individual assignments over the past three decades.
The Whitby firefighter tribute does not announce a public farewell event or provide a schedule for one. The confirmed news is the retirement milestone and the Town’s acknowledgement of her work.
